This Hawthorn East project involved transforming a large existing 9m x 3.5m concrete pool into a compact, luxurious plunge pool for a beautifully restored heritage home. Working alongside Kate Seddon Landscape Design and in partnership with Landart Landscapes, the brief was to reimagine the small courtyard space to better suit the clients’ evolving lifestyle and create a more functional, intimate outdoor retreat.

The renovation included a complete redesign of the pool shell, integrating it structurally with an extended pool beam and paving sub-base to support the custom French-pattern Eco Outdoor paving. This ensured a seamless aesthetic and avoided intrusive expansion joints, while maintaining the integrity of the new structure built within the original pool.

The new 3.5m x 3.5m plunge pool features custom entry steps and a bench seat along the eastern side — compact, practical, and perfectly aligned with the scale of the courtyard. The interior is fully tiled in Bisazza Delhi 20mm glass mosaics, a rich green and black blend that brings depth and elegance to the space. To complement the selected tile, we installed a custom black skimmer box and matching suction and return fittings for a cohesive, refined finish.

Surrounded by lush new planting and natural timber boundary fencing, this beautifully renovated courtyard pool now feels like a private lagoon-style hideaway — a peaceful escape crafted with precision, texture, and timeless appeal.
